Seven Ancient World Wonders is a list which consists of seven important objects built between 3000 BC and 476 AD. All these seven World Wonders were included in the list because of some special quality. Now you can just have a glance at some of the key features of these ancient World Wonders from here on.
- The Great Pyramids. These pyramids are located in Giza, Egypt, and were built between 2650-2500 BC. The largest among these pyramids is 756 feet at length on each side and 450 feet in height. It took twenty years for more than 100,000 slaves to collectively complete these pyramids and to make one of the ancient World Wonders.
- The Hanging Gardens of Babylon. These gardens were built by King Nebuchadnezzar, who ruled over Babylon for forty three years from 605 BC. People of those times used to say that the Hanging Gardens hanged hundreds of feet in the air.
- The Statue of Zeus at Olympia. The introduction of Olympic Games was done to honor of Zeus. The Statue of Zeus was made of gold and ivory over a wooden frame. The size of the statue was 22*40. Among ancient World Wonders only few pieces of this statue remain now and they are displayed at a museum.
- The Colossus of Rhodes. This is more commonly known as the “Statue of Liberty” and sometimes even known as “Modern Colossus”. Its weight was about 225 tons and was located at the Islands of Rhodes about two thousand years ago.
- The Lighthouse of Alexandria. There were seventeen cities named after Alexander the Great and one of them which still exists is Alexandria, Egypt. This is the city where the Lighthouse of Alexandria was situated. It was completed in twenty years and was the world’s first lighthouse.
- The Temple of Artemis at Ephesus. It took 120 years to build this monument in 550 BC, which is known as one of the ancient World Wonders.
- The Mausoleum of Halicarnassus. This building was built as a tribute to Mausolus by Artimisia and was extremely beautiful.
